Recycled Materials: Magazine Bowl

Recycled Materials: Magazine Bowl

Materials:
• Magazines
• Glue Sticks

Challenge:
Create a bowl out of old magazines. Your bowl should be functional, even on all sides and well crafted.

Steps:
  • Tear out a piece of paper out of the magazine. (It doesn’t matter if it tears out unevenly.)
  • Fold the paper in half the long way making the sides line up. Fold the paper in half three more times.
Tightly begin to roll up the paper creating a flat disk.
Repeat steps 1 & 2. Each strip is made from one page of a magazine.
Once you have reached a minimum of 6 inch diameter for your base you will begin to build up the walls of your bowl.
Fold up a new piece of paper, glue the edge of the disk.
Place each strip about 1/8’ about the previous row.
Leave the last inch unglued so you can tuck the next strip into the bowl.
Shape the bowl as you build up so that it is not just a tall cylinder.
